Scoring & Astrology

How is my compatibility score calculated?

Synastrix combines two zodiac systems — Western (sun signs) and Chinese (lunar animals + elements) — into a single synergy score. Both systems draw from traditional astrological relationships and are combined using our proprietary blending algorithm.

What do the three lenses mean?

Every match is viewed from three angles: Lovers (romantic chemistry), Friends (platonic compatibility), and Rivals (competitive dynamic). All three use the same underlying scores but with different interpretive framing — the same pair can be great friends but challenging rivals.

Why can't I get a perfect 10?

A 10/10 is possible but rare. It requires a top-tier match in both Western and Chinese zodiac systems, plus a favorable elemental alignment. Most elite pairings land between 9.0 and 9.5. If you see a 9+, that's a genuinely exceptional match.

What's the difference between Western and Lunar compatibility?

Western compatibility is based on your sun sign (determined by your birth month/day). Lunar compatibility uses your Chinese zodiac animal (determined by your birth year) and its elemental properties. They measure different dimensions of compatibility and are blended together for a more complete picture.

What does the AI Deep Reading do?

Premium subscribers get a personalized 2–3 paragraph analysis for each lens (Lovers, Friends, Rivals). It goes beyond the template text to interpret the specific energies between your exact sign combination. It's generated by AI and meant for entertainment — not professional advice.

What do the score labels mean?

9.0+Cosmic
8.5 – 8.9Elite
8.0 – 8.4Exceptional
7.0 – 7.9Strong
6.0 – 6.9Good
5.0 – 5.9Mixed
4.0 – 4.9Challenging
Below 4.0Difficult

What's the difference between Tropical and Sidereal?

Tropical (the default) is what most Western horoscopes use. It's based on the seasons — the Spring Equinox always marks the start of Aries. This is the system you'll see in magazines, apps, and social media.

Sidereal is based on the actual positions of the constellations in the sky. Because the Earth's axis wobbles over centuries (precession), the constellations have drifted about 23 days behind the seasonal calendar. This means your Sidereal sign may be different from your Tropical sign.

Which should I use? If you follow Western/pop astrology, stick with Tropical. If you follow Vedic (Jyotish) astrology or want to see how your compatibility shifts under a different system, try Sidereal. Some people resonate more with their Sidereal sign — it's worth exploring both. Sidereal is available as a premium feature.

Is this real astrology?

Synastrix is built on traditional astrological compatibility frameworks (Western aspects, Chinese trines/clashes, Wu Xing element cycles), but it's designed for entertainment. We take the astrology seriously enough to make scores feel believable and consistent — but please don't make life decisions based on a compatibility score.
